JOURNEY’S 21 DAY “FAST” FOR 2026
Words of Encouragement
to Begin the Fast
Theme: “Seek Peace” | Psalm 34:14
Our beloved Journey Family and Friends,

As we enter into a brand-new year, we are choosing to set aside 21 days to draw near to God through fasting and prayer. This year, our focus is on peace—God’s peace. The Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 34:14, “Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
Peace is more than the absence of conflict—it is the presence of God Himself. Jesus, our Prince of Peace, promises a peace that the world cannot give (John 14:27). It is a peace that steadies our hearts in troubled times, calms our fears, and unites us as one body in Christ.
During this fast, we are seeking not just peace in our circumstances, but the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). This peace will guard our hearts and minds, strengthen our faith, and guide us as we step into the new year.

As you fast and pray, let us remember:
-
To release every burden into God’s hands.
-
To forgive quickly and love deeply.
-
To allow God’s peace to flow in us and through us—into our families, our church, and our community.
We are not just fasting from food or pleasures; we are fasting to feast on God’s presence. Together, let us seek peace, pursue it, and walk in it daily. So that we may not only honor His Word in obedience, but bear the fruit of His Spirit and the fruit of our labor.

“Why we Fast! How to Fast!
And When we Fast!”
WHY FAST?
Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that draws us nearer to God, aligning our hearts with His purposes. It is a time to humble ourselves, surrender our plans, and open our lives to His direction for the year ahead. As we fast together, let us:
-
Seek God’s Peace and understanding for the year ahead.
-
Ask for clarity in our personal lives, families and ministries.
-
Repent of any areas where we have fallen short and embrace the fresh grace God offers.
-
Pray for unity, wisdom, and growth within our church family and community.
HOW TO FAST
Fasting can take many forms, and it is important to choose a fast that aligns with your spiritual goals and health. Here are a few options for consideration:
-
Partial fast – Choose one or more meals to skip during the day or fast from specific foods (like sugar, social media, or entertainment).
-
Full Fast – A more intense fast, where you may abstain from all food for a set period, focusing solely on prayer and meditation.
-
Daniel Fast – A fast focused on vegetables, fruits, and water, as outlined in Daniel 10:3.
-
Media Fast – Disconnecting from social media, TV, or other distractions to focus solely on God.
WHEN WE FAST?
We encourage you to consider fasting with purpose being intentional during these 21 day. Dedicating those days to seeking God’s Will. This year we are expecting God to move in a mighty and glorious way in our homes, our churches, our ministries, and in our communities.
We will begin our “Fast” on Sunday January 11, 2026 and end our “Fast” on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
